There is something quintessential about a London summer: the sun, the greenery, and, if you’re lucky, the perfect outdoor event.
In June 2023, I spent the most incredible day at the Marylebone Summer Festival in Paddington Street Gardens. Whether it was the outdoor screening of Encanto or just the buzz of the fair, it was easily the highlight of my summer.
The Ultimate Movie Escape
We all know the struggle of trying to watch a movie at home. Between the laundry, the emails, and the general “to-do” list, it’s almost impossible to actually watch a film from start to finish without getting distracted.
Sitting there, surrounded by the beautiful trees of Paddington Street Gardens, sinking into a striped deckchair, and having nowhere to be but right there, it was pure bliss. It was the first time in ages I actually got to sit and immerse myself in the magic of the Madrigal family without a single household interruption.

More Than Just a Screening
But the festival was about so much more than just the film. The atmosphere was electric. You could feel the community spirit as everyone gathered on the grass.

I still remember wandering past the fairground rides—it really felt like a proper old-school summer fair. It’s those little details, like the vintage-style carousel, that really transport you out of the city and into a holiday mindset.

Bring It Back!
I’m already crossing my fingers and hoping that Marylebone Village brings these festivities back in full force this year. If they do, put it at the top of your “must-do” list. It’s the perfect way to recharge, enjoy the sun, and soak up some movie magic.
Did anyone else manage to catch the festival the last couple of years before it was suspended in 2025? Or are you hoping for an outdoor cinema return this season too? Let me know in the comments!
