Marylebone’s Must-Try Hot Beverages: A Chocolatey Oat Milk Dream

When the chill of London sets in, there’s nothing better than a perfect hot beverage, and the area in and around Marylebone High Street is a goldmine. For my first special guest spot, I’m heading slightly off the main thoroughfare to rave about a truly exceptional coffee shop.

Spot #1: Special Guests

I’ll be honest, I’m a creature of habit. I often just go for what the store does best—their house coffee blend. My order is simple but exacting: a regular coffee (usually a flat white or latte, depending on the day), made with oat milk and served extra hot.

What sets this coffee apart is the flavour profile. It has this incredible, subtle richness a definite chocolate on the tone, a real hint of cacao that cuts through the creamy oat milk without being overpowering. It’s comforting, complex, and genuinely one of the best I’ve had in the area. I genuinely recommend it to anyone looking for a perfectly balanced cup.

You can find the brilliant team at Special Guests on Aybrook Street, just a stone’s throw from the top end of Marylebone High Street. Trust me, it’s worth the slight detour!

Spot #2: White Mulberries

For my next recommendation, we’re landing on Paddington Street, where you’ll find the charming and consistently excellent White Mulberries at 54 Paddington Street.

While their house coffee (my go-to oat milk, extra hot) is beautifully smooth and reliably excellent, I have to give a shout-out to another offering: the Chai Latte.

A Note of Hope for the Chai Latte

If you’re a chai enthusiast, you’ll know the saying: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” On a recent visit, I noticed a change to their beloved Chai Latte. This used to be a bold, spicy, cinnamon-forward flavour the very drink I dragged all my friends to try! Now, it has transitioned to a noticeably milder and weaker profile.

I’m not scrapping White Mulberries from this list, because the quality of all their beverages remains pretty good. But I’m also not giving up hope! As soon as this blog goes live, I’ll be sending an email to the company, making a heartfelt plea to change the recipe back to its former, spicier glory.

Despite the chai shift, White Mulberries is still a fantastic spot. Their coffee is top-notch, and the tucked-away, calming atmosphere is perfect for a serene escape in Marylebone. Let’s keep those fingers crossed for a return of the kick!

Spot #3: Chiltern Street Deli

My third choice is a true hidden gem that perfectly embodies the charm of the Marylebone area: the Chiltern Street Deli.

You can find this lovely spot nestled right on Chiltern Street. It’s more than just a coffee shop it’s a perfect spot to pause and enjoy the moment. The interior has a cosy, inviting atmosphere with some lovely artwork hanging on the walls, and the staff are known for being very welcoming.

They have a very wide selection, and I would strongly recommend their coffees and their drinks in general. They also excel at food; their goods and cakes are amazing, making it a perfect spot to sit down and have a chat with a friend.

Whether the weather is great for sitting outside on the little bench or better for cosying up indoors or just by the coffee bar, Chiltern Street Deli offers a lovely, unhurried atmosphere that makes it a must-visit.

Spot #4: Hagen

If you classify a truly great coffee shop by the strength and quality of its brew, then Hagen is your destination. Situated right on Marylebone High Street (specifically at 82 Marylebone High St), this spot perfectly blends a nice aesthetic with a serious approach to coffee. My routine remains the same: oat milk, extra hot. The cups here are perhaps a little on the small side, but don’t be fooled the coffee is good-tasting, strong coffee. It’s a powerful, flavourful hit that ensures you really do enjoy drinking every last drop. It’s perfect for the coffee aficionado who appreciates a concentrated, high-quality brew.

Beyond the beverage itself, the location and aesthetic are spot on. It has a lovely Danish hygge feel, and you can often sit outside on their little benches (ideal if you have a dog in tow!) and simply watch the world—and the fashionable crowd—going past on Marylebone High Street. Hagen offers a fantastic blend of high-quality coffee and a superb atmosphere, making it a must-visit for that perfect, strong cup.

Spot #5: Farmer J (Marylebone Branch)

For my fifth and final recommendation, I’m choosing a spot that excels not just in coffee, but as a complete dining destination: Farmer J (located on 24 Thayer Street in Marylebone Village).

This branch of Farmer J is quite spacious and big, offering plenty of room to relax or grab a full meal, and the staff are very friendly. It’s the perfect spot when you need more than just a quick caffeine fix.

But back to the essentials: the coffee here is, as you said, amazing as always. My custom remains an oat latte, extra hot, and it’s consistently well-made and delicious.

What really sets Farmer J apart, however, is the excellent pairing of the coffee with their baked goods. Their cookies and cakes are the perfect accompaniment. More importantly, Farmer J is a fantastic choice for those with dietary requirements, especially if you are vegan. They offer a wide selection of choices—from their famous “Fieldtrays” to their treats—ensuring there’s something delicious and wholesome for everyone.

If you’re looking for a great coffee that perfectly complements a satisfying meal in a spacious, welcoming setting, Farmer J is my final, highly recommended choice.
