Charlie Brown Cookies: A Nostalgic Treat

Charlie Brown Cookies: A Nostalgic Treat

I’ve always been a huge Charlie Brown fan, and his iconic zig-zag shirt holds a special place in my heart. That’s why I was so excited to come across Amy H’s wonderful Charlie Brown cookie recipe on her blog, Constellation Inspiration: www.constellationinspiration.com. While I love her recipe, I wanted to put my own simple spin on these nostalgic treats.

Inspiration Abounds

Before diving into baking, I always find it helpful to gather inspiration. Pinterest has been a treasure trove of adorable Charlie Brown cookie designs to get my creative juices flowing.

My Simple Charlie Brown Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Yellow frosting
  • Black decorating gel or melted chocolate

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. Let cool completely on the baking sheets.
  7. Using yellow frosting, cover the cookies entirely.
  8. Once the yellow frosting is set, use black decorating gel or melted chocolate to pipe on Charlie Brown’s iconic zig-zag pattern.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, try using brown butter instead of regular butter.
  • Don’t overbake the cookies! You want them to be soft and slightly chewy.
  • If the frosting is too thick for piping, you can thin it out with a few drops of milk.

These Charlie Brown cookies are the perfect treat to satisfy your sweet tooth and bring back those warm, nostalgic feelings. Share your own creations with me—I’d love to see them!
